Anonymous asked: You're a big inspiration on me and i wish to lose weight like you, but lately I've only been losing like 2 pounds a month and i don't know why, I've been none stop working out and eating healthily at certain times. Do you have any advice?

Thanks for the message!
Before I answer please remember that I am not a doctor or nutritionist or personal trainer or anything like that and any advice I give won’t replace the advice of a trained professional. This is just my own experience and may not work for everyone.

What worked for me was focusing on loving myself rather than losing weight. I used to work out for hours a day and eat salads and drink 8 glasses of water a day and watch the scale stay the same - it’s frustrating for sure. So then I would return to negative habits like self-hate, negative self talk and other unhealthy habits.

One day I just decided to love my fat body the way it was (with the help of the body positive community on tumblr). I wanted to do more for it so I started going for walks and short runs. Then, because I’m not a nutritionist I consulted the Canada Food Guide which was created by the government of Canada and gives suggested servings of each food group per day. They also give other great healthy living suggestions on their website. I basically followed their suggestions for females in my age range.

Lastly, it’s was all about making a commitment to myself. Regardless of if I reach my goal weight or if I had never lost weight at all - I made a commitment to myself to be healthy and live a positive happy life. Gotta remember that when the going gets tough or you feel discouraged!

Xo hope that helps!

Hi all!

On April 19 I’m going to run my very first 5km!

I’m running to raise money to send disabled/special needs kids and youth to summer camp (in BC they’re run by Easter Seals and there are three in total).

My little sister Naomi passed away at age 19 in 2012 and she was one of those…

Wow! Our team has raised over 400$!!! It costs just about 2400$ (can) to send a child or youth with disabilities to summer camp for only one week. I think it be incredible if we could raise that much money! Thanks for the share and support!!

I am running my first 5k to raise money to send disabled kids to summer camp this year. It’s put on through easter seals and my late sister, Naomi, would go every year so I’m running in her memory.

If you or someone you know would like to donate to this cause please click the link! Thank you!

Hey everyone!

Sorry I’ve been MIA and that all I post are ‘before and durings’ apparently. My partner and I just moved 500km north (back into our OLD apartment actually…weird and also cool) and it’s been really emotional and weird for me because this is where we were living when my sister passed away and feelings and emotions and all that. But so far I am settling in and just trying to unpack while T works. It’s also amazing to no longer live apart - we’d been living in two different towns five hours apart for the last nine months and it was a bummer!

Anyway - my partner is ALSO working on his overall health and he found these ‘befores’ of us from May 2012. I’m so proud of him and he’s so proud of me and we’re just trying our best!

Can’t wait for our first 5k on Saturday!!!

XO Kim
